Developments to date

The partners have worked together:

  • To use the Foundation Degree in Theology and Ministry (vlidated by York St John University) as a basis for joint Reader/Preacher training. This is delivered through Diocesan Schools of Ministry or Diocesan training centres and the York Institute.

  • To develop and gain approval for a new curriculum based on vocational themes for ordinands. This is delivered for part-time students by the Yorkshire Ministry Course using teaching sites at Mirfield and York. Students may follow either a programme validated by the University of Sheffield or the York St John University Foundation Degree. All students share together in the residential weekends and Easter School.

  • To put in place an integrated approach to post-ordination training for curates in all the Yorkshire dioceses, under the auspices of the YMC.

  • To gather together and promote courses and resources for Education for Discipleship.

  • To support the Mission shaped Ministry course in the region developed by the Fresh Expressions network.
